Fallout 76 Saga - New glitch in Fallout 76: broken nukes (Early January)

On January 1st, a glitch caused the nuke silos to be locked, with a countdown timer on 9,999 hours. Oh joy. Way to start 2019 with a bang, except quite the opposite.


Activision lost two chief financial officers at the start of 2019 (Early January)


Blizzard suddenly announces that Soldier 76 from Overwatch is gay (Early January)

After an intense pill to swallow that is the coping from the hate towards Diablo Immortal on mobile, Blizzard suddenly retcons Overwatch to make it that Soldier 76 is gay.


FOX accounces an Alien game on mobile (Early January)

FOX announced Alien Blackout. Turns out, they pulled a Blizzard, because it's a mobile cash grab whose gameplay ripped off Five Nights at Freddy's.


Bungie splits from Activision, taking Destiny with them (Early January)

In a surprise event, Bungie has split and freed itself from Activision, and taking their Destiny franchise with them. It's not the first time they freed themselves from a publisher, which is Microsoft, but Microsoft kept their franchise Bungie made; Halo. Now that Bungie freed themselves from Activision, taking Destiney with them, Activision's stock had dramatically took a dive.


Fallout 76 Saga - IT DOESN'T STOP!!!! Players gained access in dev room with every single items in Fallout 76 (Mid January)

The train wreck hauling burning dumpsters tumbling down the cliff keeps on going! Players had somehow gained access to a forbidden developer's room in Fallout 76.


Activision-Blizzard under investigation for fraud (Mid January)

Shortly after Bungie left Activision, the whole holding company are being investigated for fraud, claiming that the separation of Bungie is some kind of an unlawful business practice.


EA refuses to refund a customer (Mid January)

EA, being typical EA, flat out refuses to refund a redditor their copy of Star Wars: Battlefront, claiming that they didn't meet the refund requirements, even though the redditor DID meet the requirements.


Activision adds "shaming" markers to people who hasn't got a season pass in Black Ops 4 (Mid January)

UPDATE: Apparently, it is a bug that was caused when players don't have all maps installed, and that these indicators were only used in private lobbies, but a mistake was made and they showed up in public lobbies.


Epic Games Saga - A bug in Fortnite gave hackers the ability to access millions of player accounts (Mid January)

Oh boy, glad I don't play Fortnite


Valve's card game, Artifact, lost 97.5% of players in 2 months since launch (Late January)


Activision strikes again, selling a smiley face reticle for two bucks (Late January)

As if selling a red dot was embarrassing enough, you'd think they won't pull this mistake. Right? Well, apparently, we were wrong.


Nintendo completely restarts development of Metroid Prime 4 with a studio that worked on the other 3 MP games (Late January)

Nintendo made a video addressing this issue, while sincerely appologising to the fans.

They lied when they said that the only microtransactions is cosmetic stuff only. Concerns of Bethesda lying starts going up because of this.

After Bioware patched out the fun loot "bug", Anthem Players are preparing a protest to boycott the game for a week from March 11 to 15.


Epic Games Saga - Phoenix Point, a game made by X-COM dev, suddenly announces Epic Store exclusivity (Mid March)

Epic Games Saga - Borderlands 3 has been leaked as a timed Epic Store Exclusive (Early April)

Apparently, it's not an (out of season) April Fools joke.

UPDATE: This turned out to be true, but it's only for 6 months, rather than a whole year. It was also leaked to be released on September 13 2019.


Anthem Saga - Investigative report shows that Anthem's development has been a troubled mess (Early April)

Things such as the fact that the game was in pre-production until the last 16 months of development because of poor management, messy leadership, no visions, how the frostbite enging bit the team in the ass, the team being understaffed and fighing for resources from EA, who in turn actually took some staff from the team for their personal gains, overworked employees, especially in an evironment where overstress, nervous breakdowns, anxiety and stress leaves are occuring, friction between teams, and so on and so forth.

Bioware's response from that article is as expected, claiming that things are good in the studio.

FIFA boss David Rutter is now the general manager of some of EA's European studios, such as DICE, Criterion and Ghost Games. (Early September)

For those uninformed, DICE is responsible for the Battlefield franchise and Star Wars Battlefront II, Criterion was partially responsible for Battlefront II, and Ghost is responsible for the Need For Speed franchise.

And for history, Rutter joined EA in 2007, and his first game, FIFA 09 is the first title to start off the Ultimate Team mode.

Epic Games Saga - Another day, another Epic Store Exclusivity Controversy (Early September)

Super Meat Boy Forever has been announced as an EGS exclusive, with the devs stating that the exclusivity is a "no brainer".

Update: Valve updated its distribution agreement that games that was announced for steam and suddenly announced for exclusivity elsewhere can be reported.

NBA 2K20 Saga - NBA 2K20 released as a broken game and shows evidence that it's NBA 2K19 literally copied and pasted as 2K20 (Early September)

Evidence such as NBA 2K20's shoddy PC port desktop icon uses NBA 2K19's icon.

UPDATE: A patch had been issued, but it didn't fixed any of the major bugs, such as the 12 hour loading screen. TWELVE FUCKING HOURS. HOLY SHIT.

You use premium currency to buy weapon bundles, attachment bundles, gear bundles, weapon blueprints, vehicles, customizations, fucking in-game currency, fucking time savers and fucking battle pass boosters!

Google Stadia is going to launch in November 19, with the following games to be released with it at launch:

  • • Just Dance 2020;
  • • Kine;
  • • Mortal Kombat 11;
  • • Red Dead Redemption 2;
  • • Rise of the Tomb Raider;
  • • Samurai Showdown;
  • • Shadow of the Toom Raider: Defenitive Edition;
  • • Thumper, and;
  • • Tomb Raider: Defenitive Edition;

It will also include more games until the end of 2019, including these beauties:

  • • Borderlands 3;
  • • Ghost Recon: Breakpoint;
  • • NBA 2K20, and;
  • • Wolfenstein: Youngblood;

Oh, and it has also been revealed that it's going to be missing a good chunk of important features at launch.

Patrice Désilets, developer of Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, and former Assassin's Creed director, accuses reviewers of not playing the game when they give it mediocre reviews (Early December)

UPDATE: The reviews that mentioned the elements that are not in the game, meaning that they haven't played the game, has been found; MSPowerUsers and Gamespot's reviews, though only in the post-review discussions, or that the statements have been retracted.


Epic Games Saga - Phoenix Point has been released on Epic Games Store to poor communications from developers, no pre-load because the EGS doesn't support pre-loading, and to middling reviews (Early December)


TRON: Evolution, a game initially released in November 25, 2010, is no longer available to buy, or install and play even if someone already bought it, because the DRM it contains, known as SecuROM has its serial keys revoked (Early December)

This is concerning for an all digital future, as this is the kind of shit publishers tried to justify when they keep whining about the fact that they only sell liscences, not the actual game for customers to play.


Epic Games / Lootbox Saga - A patch introduced in Rocket League fucks up the marketing by making monetization worse (Early December)

The patch caused loot boxes to change into what the game calls blueprints, while the lootbox keys are replaced by credits. This however caused the market to get worse, as explained in this picture:

EA Fucked up once again

Sony rips off Student and Professional animations for its Japanese PS4 lineup video (Early December)

The original official video was taken down by Sony, however someone else uploaded the same video for everyone to still see.

Apparently, this isn't the first rodeo for this freelance animator Sony got to make the animation, as he also plagiarized other works in other animations.


Battlefield V patch 5.2 breaks the game (Mid December)

This "patch" gave issues to TTK (time to kill) where it was lowered drastically, meaning it now takes more shots to kill a player.

EA DICE had picked up on the backlash and has officially announced that the team currently has no plans to fully revert the patch, but rather to make adjustments.

Activision removes Kill-Death Ratio Tracker in Call Of Duty Modern Warfare, and adds a $20 bundle pack that includes a Kill-Death Ratio Tracker (Mid December)

The ability to see your Kill-Death Ratio during a match is something that was implemented in every single Call of Duty games, until the latest one. Now, you can't keep track of your Kill-Death ratio during a match until after the match ends, unless you buy a "Mother Russia" pack costing 2000 cod points, or $20 which includes a watch where you could check your Kill-Death ratio during a match

Fucking scummy, Activision. You give them an inch, they take a mile.

Fallout 76 Saga - An exploit in Fallout 76 makes hackers steal other players' whole inventory (Late December)

UPDATE: The hack got live, wrecking havoc in Fallout 76, and Bethesda never took measure.

UPDATE 2: Bethesda took the servers down for maintenance.


Someone hacked P.T. (the now removed playable trailer of the cancelled Silent Hills) to enable the player to explore outside the house where the trailer would "end" (Late December)

There are interesting finds, such as the area outsode the house has no collision, thus making the player fall, but interestingly, one of the creepy creatures gets the player and reset the game.

Despite only being used for the cutscene in the trailer, the area has a surprisingly amount of details and atmosphere.

The lost potential realised via this hack is heartbreaking to say the least. #FucKonami


Final Words

What a fucking year this has been for the video game industry. But more importantly, what a decade. Things went to shit over the last half of the decade.

Will the 2020s be a decade where the video game industry finally calms down and unwinds itself from shit? Well... As much as I worry about it, there's only one way to find out;
